THE RAPTURE AND THE CHURCH

My Christmas yesterday was truly worthwhile, and I give glory to Jesus.

The full gist later—but here’s a moment worth sharing.
I visited a wonderful family, and during our discussion someone asked, “What’s your name?”
I replied, “Noah.”
He laughed and said, “Oh! Are you the Ghana pastor building an ark for people to enter?”
Everyone laughed.
I responded plainly: that man is not serious, and anyone travelling down that road is being led without sound understanding of the Word of God.
Here is the lesson
Over time, we have repeatedly seen individuals—prophets, pastors, and self-acclaimed messiahs—predict the rapture or the return of Christ with dates and dramatic instructions.
People sold their properties, abandoned livelihoods, and waited… but nothing happened.
This is not new. Scripture already warned us.
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not believe it.”
Matthew 24:23
“So if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the wilderness!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.”
Matthew 24:26
A Brief History of Failed Rapture Predictions
Here are documented examples that remind us why believers must be grounded in Scripture:
1844 – William Miller predicted Christ’s return (The “Great Disappointment”).
1914 – Charles Taze Russell (later linked to Jehovah’s Witness chronology).
1925 – Another failed prediction tied to the same movement.
September 11–13, 1988 – Edgar C. Whisenant (“88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988”).
September 6, 1994 – Harold Camping (later revised multiple times).
May 21, 2011 – Harold Camping again; followed by October 21, 2011.
September 23, 2017 – David Meade claimed a prophetic alignment.
All failed. Every single one.
Yet Jesus already settled the matter:
“It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.”
Acts 1:7
Sound Doctrine Really Matters
An ark will not save anyone again.
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12
Only Jesus saves.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
John 14:6
God will not flood the earth again. He cannot lie.
“Never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
Genesis 9:11–15
Final Charge to Believers
We are in the end times, yes—but not the end of discernment.
The true danger is not Christ’s coming; it is ignorance of the Word.
“Study to show yourself approved unto God…”
2 Timothy 2:15
Be watchful. Be ready.
But above all—be rooted in Scripture, not sensationalism.
Jesus is coming again.
But He did not give us dates—He gave us truth.
STAY WITH THE TRUTH
