COMPLACENCY AND REVIVAL
From ages past until this day, one of the intrinsic factors that contribute to the hindrance of revival is COMPLACENCY.
In "Why Revival Tarries" by Leonard Ravenhill, complacency refers to a state of self-satisfaction and contentment within the church or among believers. Ravenhill emphasizes that this complacency leads to a lack of urgency in seeking spiritual revival and growth.
He criticizes the comfort-driven mindset that hinders a fervent pursuit of God and prevents individuals from recognizing their need for revival and transformation. In Ravenhill's view, overcoming complacency is crucial for igniting spiritual revival and bringing about a deeper, more genuine relationship with God.
We can't just be too comfortable as a believer, there must be a burning passion to seek God daily. Paul scribed this in his epistle and he said:
Philippians 3:10
[10]I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
This is a burning desire to know more.
With all the revelation of Paul, there's still a desire to know more of Christ.
Today, with little or nothing that we know we seem comfortable with our spiritual decadence and as a result, many celebrate what ought not to be forgetting the essence of His death and resurrection.
We all must wake up from our slumber both old and young and seek God with all burning and living passion, not to seek for materials but to see that His kingdom come and His will be done.
Romans 13:11-12
[11]This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
[12]The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.
